Experimental movie

This is my one minute experimental movie, with all the footage from Helmdon. I had originally had this idea when making the three minute documentary. You can see some of my rough footage in an earlier post. However, I realised that it didn’t comply with the theme of the documentary.

    Ranjeet,

Experimental film by its nature is the antithesis of story telling and your film seemed to try to be telling a story – audio of town visuals of empty village – but then the cup of tea really threw me!

What was your intention? (in one line)

      Hello Ken

      Hope you are well.

My intention was to show my experience of a village, as I experienced it.

I emphasized on trying to create a feeling, by trying to show the emptiness, loneliness and boredom of a village. The silence was very palpable, and I wanted to highlight this atmosphere. Experimenting with the sound seemed like the best way to achieve it.

A full cup is usually an expression given to being content. And I felt that this little shot perfectly depicted how the villagers feel about their surroundings.

I know you’re not on the MA this semester, but let me know what day you’ll be teaching, I would like to sit in on the lessons.
